China remains the world's fastest growing outbound travel market despite the global economic downturn. The total number for Chinese traveling overseas in 2009 is expected to exceed 50 million. Moreover, a significant number of Chinese outbound visitors are government officials and business executives who visit foreign destinations to explore intersegment opportunities, seeking business partners thus, by promoting Anguilla in China, this will attract also potential investors and incentive travelers on top of high end leisure travelers.

Chief Minister Honorable Osbourne Fleming and Minister of Tourism Honorable Victor Banks with Director of CNTO Madame Chen and  COO of China Business Network, Dr. Adam Wu

Honorable Victor F. Banks, commented “in view of the huge potential of China's outbound market, Anguilla is keen on attracting visitors from China for both business and leisure travel. Euqally, they will have an opportunity to explore investment possibilities on the island. Anguilla is a small island with a big reputation—perfect for small high-level meetings, high-end leisure groups and top tier incentive programs. The Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with the Anguilla Tourist Board and the Trade and Investment Unit, in particular, will brief and prepare the private sector to welcome Chinese visitors and take full advantage of any opportunities for Chinese investment".

Dr. Wu of China Business Network remarked that CBN has the right expertise and experience of supporting Caribbean destinations in reaching the outbound travel trade and large numbers of Chinese visitors both online and offline. CBN will develop the official Chinese web site for Anguilla and maintain it on the China Wide Web so that Chinese outbound travel, trade professionals and actual visitors will know more about Anguilla by visiting the official Chinese website and get some useful information before travelling. CBN will also support Anguilla delegations to attend relevant exhibitions and trade events in China and promoting Anguilla on a continuous basis throughout the year.

This joint initiative between Anguilla and the China Business Network would also inject fresh vigor into the close cooperation between China and Caribbean destinations which will help to deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation, recognizing, however, that in Anguilla's case all foreign relations initiatives are entered into after appropriate consulations with United Kingdom Government, given Anguilla's status as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom.
