Bahía Inglesa is located 882 km north of Santiago and 70 km northwest of Copiapó in the Caldera district. It is one of the most beautiful coastal destinations of northern Chile, widely known for its calm turquoise waters and fine white sandy beaches.
With a complete range of tourism products that include camping grounds, cabins, hostels and rental homes, where its main attraction would have to be its cuisine with products brought in straight out of their coastline such as scallops, albacores and soles, among others.
Right in front of Bahía Inglesa, we find the La Piscina, Blanca and El Chuncho beaches, from south to north.
La Piscina is a beach surrounded by rocks, forming a calm inlet ideal for kids to swim in due to its gentle waters. This makes it suitable for swimming and nautical sports.
Blanca Beach is a half kilometer long beach, very popular among local families and of great exotic beauty, simply incredible. Its tranquil waters allow swimming, fishing and diving.
El Chuncho is a wave-less beach, with a soft slope and rocky surrounding. Just like the La Piscina and Blanca beaches, it is characterized for its warm waters, having a more elevated temperature than other beaches of the Atacama coastline.
Between Bahía Inglesa and the Copiapó Morro, we find the Las Machas, Rocas Negras and El Morro beaches, forming one of the longest coastal beach resorts of the Atacama Region, with calm warm waters. It is a nice ride on the coastal paved road, starting off from Bahía Inglesa.
The coast of the Atacama Region offers exceptional characteristics for practicing a great diversity of aquatic sports, including kayaking or boat navigation, rides on banana inflatable boats, diving, surfing, kite-surfing and windsurfing or sandboarding on the nearby coastal dunes. There are schools and clubs that offer classes for those who would like to try out one of these disciplines.
