Chilean & Chinese governments make mutual arrangement for free tourist visas
The governments of Chile and China will make tourist visas free of charge for the citizens of both countries.

A reciprocal agreement was signed during Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang's official visit to Santiago on Monday.

With effect from July, the measure will promote tourism, investment and trade, and "reflects a successful consular co-operation between the two nations" according to the Chilean Foreign Ministry.

Each year, around 11,000 Chinese visit Chile and nearly 10,000 Chileans travel to China.

The free visa arrangement is just one of several economic, commercial, financial and scientific agreements signed between the two countries on Monday.

Li's visit commemorates 45 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations between Chile and China.
