On December 15, 2014, Li Jinzao, CNTA Chairman and President of the Association for Tourism and Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits, met the delegation led by Wei Botao, President of Guangxi-Taiwan Economic, Trade and Cultural Exchange Association and Advisor to Grand China Air Group Limited.
Mr. Li firstly gave a warm welcome to the delegation. As he said, the tourism of the mainland has in recent years undergone remarkable growth and played an increasingly important role in the social and economic development; at present, the relevant tourism authorities are stepping up efforts to facilitate the structural adjustment and upgrade, improve the quality and efficiency of this industry, and promote the tourism reform and development at an accelerated speed. Tourism cooperation has always constituted an important part of the exchanges across the Taiwan Straits and kept progressing in a sound, fast, and orderly manner, thus contributing greatly to such aspects as the balanced growth between the mainland and Taiwan in tourism and the improvement of welfare for the Chinese people across the straits. The tourism authorities of the mainland and Taiwan are expected to continue promoting tourism exchanges and cooperation in a sound and orderly way with intensified efforts.
As Mr. Wei noted, since Taiwan opens to the mainland visitors, the two-way tours between the mainland and Taiwan have shown a strong momentum. This year, Taiwan sees its inbound tourists exceeding 9 million for the first time, among which visitors from the mainland constitute a great part. Tourism starts to play an increasingly significant role in promoting the Taiwanese economy. Its remarkable growth and contributions have been highly praised by all sectors of the local society. In the future, Taiwan will further beef up its publicity efforts so as to attract more mainland visitors.
