Chinese citizens with stronger Yuan in their pockets have spent $48 billion abroad in 2010, an increase of 14 percept from one year earlier.

The world will get ready for attracting Chinese tourists from implementing moderately loose visa policies and setting up offices in China, to settling accounts in RMB and employ Chinese speaking guides, etc. Chinese tourists with strong purchasing power seem to be a group of main force for stimulating the world economic growth.

Chinese made 57 million outbound trips last year from China mainland, up 20 percent year on year  China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) confirmed. CNTA also predicted that outbound travel from China would increase 16 percent to 65 million in 2011, while overseas spending would jump to $55 billion.

Europe – Economy will still depend on Chinese tourists

According to the calculation by Tourism Economics, the number of Chinese tourists to Western Europe increased to 2.4 million in 2010, up 0.4 million compared with 2009. Moreover, Chinese tourists’ consumption in Europe are increasing as well. Global Blue’s statistics show that Chinese tourists’ consumption increased by 99 per cent in the last ten months in 2010, compared with the same period in 2009. Thus, All countries in Europe have to rack their brains to attract Chinese tourists with such huge number and strong purchasing power by various means. The survey was released by an European online travel agency for the airlines, hotels, car rental markets, travel agencies, railway, etc. "after the heavy snow in Europe, European travel market is on recovery, the number of booking tour itineraries online has been increasing.”

Asia - Hold on to “The Most Extensive Visitors”

The India media Economic Times reported on 12th January that the outbound departures from China will reach 57 million and Chinese visitor’s overseas spending would jump to $55 billion in 2011. Right now the relevant department in India is preparing to share a piece of the “Chinese tourist market cake”. Also, HSBC Bank predicted the outbound spending of Chinese visitors will increased to 110 billion from every year’s 43 billion, and nearly 80 billion to 100 billion will be spent in Asian countries.

In order to attract more Chinese visitors, flights were planned to increase between India and China. Meanwhile, Indigo Air is going to purchase 180 airplanes of A320 at a cost of $ 15.6 billion, which will be the biggest bill in the history of airplane business.

USA - good services for "big consumers"

According to the statistics released by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), over one million Chinese tourists visited USA by the end of 2010. The New York Times reported that Chinese tourists were regarded as major consumers in America, and predicted that there will be over 2 million Chinese tourists travel to US in 2015. Therefore, USA authorities are planning to provide more incentive policies and convenient facilities in a bid to encourage Chinese visitors spend more money in USA.

At the end of December 2010, Christopher Heywood, vice president of Visit NYC & Company, indicated that Chinese visitors were big spenders and consumed 236 million US dollars in USA in 2010.

Chinese consumers enjoyed the highest purchase amount for each deal averaged at 200 US dollars among clients speaking different languages, according to the sales of discount card of Macy’s Department Store. “Chinese consumers prefer to buy hand bags, shoes and cosmetics,” said Bryan, a shop assistant of Macy’s Department Store.

At present, American retailers and travel agencies prefer to employ Chinese-speaking staffs to help Chinese visitors in stores and in the tourist attractions. Even ATM services for China UnionPay Card are available in some stores or attractions.
