On January 8, CNTA Vice Chairman Wang Xiaofeng held a meeting with the visiting Vietnamese delegation headed by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien. Both sides exchanged views on how to deepen tourism cooperation, especially how to tighten joint market regulation.
Wang welcomed the minister on behalf of CNTA and CNTA Chairman Li Jinzao. “China and Vietnam are important tourist sources and destinations for each other. Bounded by geographical and cultural proximity and with highly complementary tourism resources, we enjoy vast space for tourism cooperation.” He suggested establishing a cooperative mechanism to tighten control over the tourism market and promote sound bilateral tourism cooperation. Wang then briefed the guests on the latest tourism development in China, especially about the progress with holistic tourism and the World Tourism Alliance.
Minister Nguyen expressed his admiration for China’s achievements in tourism development. “China is the biggest tourist source for Vietnam and we enjoy broad prospects in tourism cooperation. We totally agree on joint market regulation and are willing to strengthen cooperation with you in establishing working mechanisms, streamlining visa policies and increasing flights, etc., to expand two-way visits between us.”
Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the International Relations Department of Chinese Ministry of Culture, CNTA Department of Quality Standardization and Administration, Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnamese Embassy.
