On April 9, Vice Chairman of CNTA Mr. Zhu Shanzhong met with Secretary for Tourism and Transpotation of Tobago Assembly Hon. Osmond Williams who was accompanied by Director of Tobago Tourism Mr. Warren Solomon on the first day of their official visit to China.
Having officially welcomed Hon. Williams and his delegation to China, vice Chairman Zhu introduced the fast development of outbound travel from China and confirmed China having become the largest outbound market in Asia, hence many foreign destinations are very keen on attracting more visitors from China. The two parties also reviewed the ADS agreement between China and Trinidad & Tobago and greed on further implimentation of the agreement in order to facilidate more Chinese visitors coming to the country.
Chairman Zhu also advised Tobago delegation to enhance destination promotion in China and to provide more information about the beautiful country as well as to organize more promotional activities during World Expo 2010 in Shanghai starting 1st May and also to participate in the CITM which will take place in November in Shanghai as well. He also said, Tobago can use its Caribbean tourism resources to strengthen the cruise business.
Hon. Williams praised the great development of China. He said, “Trinidad and Tobago has very long and good relationship with China. Tourism is the pillar of Tobago economy. With unique cultural and tourism resources, Tobago can be the potential outbound tourist destination of Chinese.”
Hon. Williams also confirmed that Tobago is joining the Trinidad and Tobago pavilion to attend the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai and carrying on a series of promotion activities to attract more Chinese to go to Tobago.
