Chairman of CNTA Met with Secretary-General of the Working People's Progressive Party of Cyprus
On Sep. 9, Chairman of CNTA Shao Qiwei met with Andros Kyprianou, Secretary-General of the Working People's Progressive Party of Cyprus and his escorts in Beijing. Both parties exchanged opinions on reinforcing the tourism exchange and cooperation between the both countries.
Shao Qiwei said that, China and Cyprus had always maintained sound cooperative relationships and China was willing to make efforts to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries. In addition, he put forward four pieces of suggestions: firstly, the tourism authorities of the two countries should establish bilateral cooperation mechanism; secondly, the visit exchange between the tourism media of the two countries should be organized; thirdly, the tourism authority of Cyprus should establish cooperative relationship with the main tourist source provinces of China; fourthly, Cyprus should open new tour routes jointly with other European countries in view of the characteristics of Chinese tourists' outbound tour.
Shao Qiwei indicated that, the people in tourism authority of Cyprus and tourism enterprisers were welcome to attend the China International Tourism Trade Fair to be held in Kunming in Nov. this year and the Expo 2010 Shanghai China.
After briefly introducing the tourism in Cyprus, Andros Kyprianou said that, impacted by the global financial crisis, both the number of tourists and tourism revenue of Cyprus has decreased; Cyprus believed that Chinese tourism market had great potential and Chinese tourists were welcome to travel to Cyprus. Andros Kyprianou agreed on the suggestions put forward by China and indicated that, the tourism authority of Cyprus would conduct tourism publicity and popularization in China and promote bilateral tourism exchange and cooperation jointly with China.
