Chinese tourists to Spain up 14.8 percent in 8 months
From January to August, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Spain increase by 14.8% over the same period last year, according to statistics from the Spanish National Tourism Authority (INSTITUTO DE TURISMO DE ESPAA). In particular, the number of Chinese tourists to Spain in August has increased by 39% over the same period last year.
 
Spain received 514,000 Chinese tourists in 2017, with an increase of 37.1% over the previous year. And in the summer holiday of 2018, Spain ranks fifth among the most popular outbound destinations for Chinese tourists, according to the latest report from China Tourism Research Institute and Ctrip.com.
 
Chinese tourists are not only interested in the sun, beach and the 'all-included' culture, but also enjoy culture, gastronomy, wine, history and nature. The new Chinese tourists would also want to spend more money in Spain. The majority of Chinese tourists declare that shopping is an unrepeatable opportunity to buy, taking advantage of an excellent exchange rate and to enrich one’s own travel experience.
 
Chinese tourists spend 2,500 Euros per capita in Spain, ranking first among all international visitors to Spain. Chinese tourists also rank first among luxury goods buyers. And Chinese tourists stay in Spain for 9 days, which is higher than that of Chinese tourists in other European countries.
