Croatia is engaged in promoting its tour resources to attract more Chinese visitors.
Chinese media and tour operators arrived in Zagreb on last Friday at the invitation of Croatia which wants to promote the country's tourism to Chinese market.
The tour, organised by Croatian National Tourist (HTZ) board will show them that Croatia is an all-year-round destination. Besides sun and beach, there are some other attractions, such as natural landscape, food and wine and cultural activities.
"Chinese journalists and tour operators arrived in the off-season and it will be an excellent opportunity for the presentation of the new project of 'Croatia 365' to Chinese market, which is of great importance for Croatia," HTZ said in its news release.
Croatian Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin has said Croatia was preparing to welcome more tourists from China and promote programs specially organized for Chinese tourists.
His ministry will work with local tourism agencies and other departments to prepare brochures and signs in Chinese and train more Chinese-speaking guides, according to the minister.
The number of Chinese visitors to Croatia has risen year by year. Around 43,000 Chinese arrived in Croatia last year, a growth of 30 percent from 2012.
An impressive growth of 36 percent arrivals was expected for the first nine months of this year, according to official figures from HTZ.
Croatian tour guide Zlata Merlin said we hoped Croatia would be a desired destination for Chinese tourists in the near future and they could have holidays here.
Shao Yiheng, the General Manager of China Classical Holiday, a tourist agency, said visiting Croatia was an opportunity to experience first-hand what the destination has to offer and discuss potential cooperation with local partners.
"For Chinese visitors, Croatia still is a destination to discover. I hope I can do something together with local tour section and provide more products for Chinese tourists who visit Croatia."
