Finch Bay Eco Hotel in Ecuador has been named South America's Leading Green Hotel 2013 for the second consecutive year at the World Travel Awards.
"We are honored to receive this award for the second year in a row, maintaining and strengthening our commitment to the conservation and sustainability of the Galápagos National Park and the communities that live in the archipelago. This conviction is at the very heart of our operations at the hotel, something everyone who works here lives and feels", said Xavier Burbano de Lara, General Manager, upon receiving the honor at the World Travel Awards in Lima.

"We understand that if we want to achieve our conservation goals, the most important part of our work is our staff: having happy and motivated team members who take conservation seriously. Beyond their usual duties, over the past year, our staff has dedicated time and energy to cultivating our native orchard; it now produces more fruit, vegetables and herbs for the hotel than ever. Our project of nurturing a garden of native species around the property is complete and it is beautiful to see how it is growing and requiring less resources. We've added more thermal solar panels, with photovoltaic ones on their way, and we've switched to LED lighting, continuing our mantra to reduce, reuse and recycle" commented Xavier.
The Finch Bay Eco Hotel is the only hotel in Puerto Ayora to operate its own yachts: the 16-guest Sea Finch and the 20-guest Sea Lion. It offers attractive "day-trip plus accommodation and meals" packages, as well as activities such as snorkeling mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, visits to see giant tortoises, and scuba diving in the world-famous Galápagos Marine Reserve.
