The Marqués De Riscal Restaurant Receives Its First Michelin Star
The Restaurant of the Hotel Marqués de Riscal and its consultant chef, Francis Paniego, received a Michelin Star and this wonderful place has satisfied the wishes of all kinds of customers.
The Restaurant of the Hotel Marqués de Riscal and its consultant chef, Francis Paniego, received a Michelin Star at last night’s annual gala which was held in Barcelona and during which the details of the restaurants honoured with such recognition were made public.

The Marqués de Riscal Restaurant, housed in the Hotel of the same name which is set at the heart of the City of Wine of the Marqués de Riscal Cellars in Elciego (Álava), was inaugurated in October 2006 with much pomp and ceremony at the same time as the hotel itself, offering its distinguished guests – including the building’s architect, Frank O. Gehry – a magnificent array of delicious dishes, some of them even presented through sessions of showcooking.
 
 
 
Francis Paniego, the Riojan Chef who has already been awarded a star for his family restaurant, “El Portal de Echaurren” (Ezcaray), has been the Gastronomic Consultant of the Marqués de Riscal Restaurant from the outset, waving the baton for a young, dynamic team of 15 chefs devoted to interpreting his creations. These chefs and the further 15 people who serve in the Dining Room, together with the enthusiasm of all the staff and management of both the hotel and the wine cellar, have made this recognition possible.

 
The fusion of tradition and modernity, a careful selection of local-produced and seasonal ingredients, and a very complete wine list with over 250 wines from the 5 continents have served to shape the personality of this exclusive restaurant. Exclusive in content and setting, and not for its prices, always focussed, now and in the future, on offering quality at a price which is affordable for all and adapted to all tastes. With two different set tasting menus and à la carte dishes, it has satisfied the wishes of all kinds of customers, from Hollywood celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the team of Gwyneth Paltrow and the media chef Mario Batalli, who present the popular TV show, Spain on the Road, to the most discerning national and international gourmets and food and wine writers.
