China tourist arrivals to South Korea crossed the million mark recently, a new record.
When the Chinese government appointed South Korea as the target destination for overseas group tourism a decade ago, the figures reached 210,000. For 2007, the figures surged to a million, with an 18 per cent increase.
Now in 2008, South Korea's targets for the Chinese market are higher. Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) China team's Mr Jung Ik-soo said a host of trade initiatives, including introducing new products to sell, familiarisation tours, sponsorship of travel surveys and souvenirs, and attendance at travel marts, were in the works.
Mr Jung also said mentioned that the KTO expected to promote and develop travel products with airlines partners as more connecting flights were expected to be added between the two countries.
