The National Development and Reform Commission has unveiled the new legal holidays in which previous holidays will be split into two long ones and five short ones.
May Day Golden Week, which has been carried out since 1999, will be reduced to one day off. Then there will be one-day vacations for Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Meanwhile, the Spring Festival holiday will begin from Chinese New Year's Eve and stay at three days. National Day also remains at three days.
By this change, the annual legal holidays turn into total 11 days from the original 10. This adjustment takes into full consideration Chinese traditional festivals.
Legal holidays always provide more conveniences for citizens' travels, shopping and leisure and promote national economic growth. Therefore, the tourism industry will be impacted by this holiday adjustment.
