The International Tourism Fair, FITUR, will present the FiturNext Observatory as one of its main novelties this year. The objective of the initiative is to identify, analyze and disseminate tourism models that generate a positive impact on the experiences of visitors, the lives of residents, the development of destinations and the balance of the planet. Over the next three years, the observatory will carry out research work to promote these models and point to guidelines on what tourism could be like in the future. For this, FiturNext invites all the actors involved in the sector to participate in a global conversation about tourism with a positive impact on FITUR and through www.fiturnext.org.
The presentation of FiturNext will start with Ana Larrañaga, director of FITUR on January 23. The observatory program at the fair will also feature presentations from different sustainable tourism initiatives, such as Plastic Whale (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), the first professional plastics fishing company in the world that conducts tours to collect plastics in the Amsterdam canals, and Fundación En Vía (Oaxaca, Mexico), dedicated to empowering women of Oaxaca thanks to funds raised through tours based on responsible tourism. A round table with members of the advisory board of FiturNext will close the presentation of the observatory in FITUR.
