Consumption stimulation in winter sports market

The Winter Olympics of 2022 foretells a positive drive in the development of ice and snow tourism. Along with the call for ‘300 million people on ice and snow’, public enthusiasm for Winter sports has grown to such an extent that orders for ski resorts and vacations have been rapidly rising. Last years snow season showed the number of people booking ski-related products through Ctrip doubling year-on-year before the epidemic. The snow season has brought a public fervor for ice and snow sports, delivering a prosperous signal in the industry.

Ice & snow tourism will be the new driver of growth for the Chinese economy

The "China Ice and Snow Tourism Development Report (2021)" released by China Tourism Research Institute indicates that with the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the demand of ice & snow tourism products are more inclined to short breaks, family vacations and road trips. This trend exhibits the new development of the ice and snow tourism: groups such as the elderly and young people are also becoming benefiting customers of the industry; ice and snow tourism has become more inclusive of many more people.
Additionally, more than 70% of "skiers" on Ctrip will repurchase ski products: a clear display of the public’s growing enthusiasm for skiing. In 2025, the number for ice and snow tourism in China is expected to exceed 500 million, and this industry will become another driving force for winter tourism and ice and snow economy.

According to the "Alibaba 2021 Golden Week Travel Trend Report", during the National Day Holiday in October, the booked amount of surfing, diving and other activities increased by more than 200% month-on-month, and hiking and rock climbing increased by more than 13 times month-on-month.
With the "National Fitness Program" issued by the State Council of China in July this year, sports tourism, including ski tours, is about to embrace the fast development in China.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games marks a kick-start for a whole new industry - the 300 million Chinese population has recognized winter sports, and Chinese participation in this will drive it globally in near future with far-reaching influence.
