The latest official statistics in
Slovenia showed the country had attracted nearly 45 percent more Asian tourists in the first half of this year compared to the second half of 2016. There were 50 percent more Chinese visitors and 41 percent more South Koreans, statistics showed.
The country saw more than 1.9 million tourists in the first half of the year in general, an increase of 15.1 percent on the same period a year ago, according to the latest figures released by the Slovenian National Statistics Office.
Presenting the fresh figures to reporters on Monday, deputy director of the Slovenian Statistics Office Karmen Hren said Slovenia was likely looking at another record-breaking year after the best ever half-year results.
Most foreign tourists come to Slovenia for holiday on the recommendation of their friends or relatives.
"The things foreign tourists value in Slovenia the most are personal safety, general cleanliness, the friendliness of the locals, unspoilt nature and quality of service, while they are less satisfied with the offerings of sporting and cultural events, shopping, nightlife and entertainment," said Hren.
