First Direct Flight to Link China With Portugal
To be operated by Beijing Capital Airlines twice a week, the first air link between China and Portugal has been politically approved by the CAAC.
A direct air link between Lisbon and Beijing, a long-standing objective of the governments of Portugal and China, has become a reality. Mr. Jorge Costa Oliveira, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Internationalization recently confirmed that Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had politically approved the direct flight route between China and Portugal.

This will be the mainland China’s first ever direct connection to Portugal. The connection will be operated by Beijing Capital Airlines, twice weekly flights to Lisbon, the Portuguese capital from Hangzhou, in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, via Beijing.

Capital Airlines, the Chinese carrier owned by the HNA Group will deploy a 211-seat Airbus A330 aircraft on the route, with 33 seats in business class and 178 in economy in December 2016.
