According to Tourism and Culture Minister of Malaysia, China has showed a continued rising arrival into the country.
China has continued to contribute to tourist arrivals in Malaysia for the first quarter of the year.
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said an initial survey by the Ministry among industry players such as airlines, tour operators and hoteliers found that the first quarter of the year showed a continued rising trend of arrivals from several markets, especially China.
"This is a reflection of the increased confidence among tourists towards Malaysia's tourism industry and it is indeed a good signal for the hospitality sector," he said in his speech at the Malaysian Association of Hotels Gala Dinner and Hotel Employee Awards 2016 at a hotel here on Wednesday.
Nazri said the success of the tourism industry did not merely rely on the Government's investment but depended heavily on concerted efforts by the Government, his ministry and all relevant stakeholders.
"Thus, we will count on the hotel industry to provide quality hospitality, professional quality service and of course imprint a memorable experience to our visitors," he added.
The synergy between all the stakeholders, Nazri said, would help fulfil Malaysia's 2020 target of 36 million tourist arrivals and raking in RM168bil worth of tourist receipts.
He also praised the hotel industry for its excellent job in providing a high standard of services to visitors.
Over 800 guests including 200 general managers from hotels nationwide were present during the event.
