2016 Sharjah Tourism Workshop Concluded Successfully in Beijing
The Sharjah Tourism workshop came to a successful conclusion in The Ritz-Carlton in Beijing on April 13, 2016.
On the evening of 13th April, 2016 Sharjah Tourism workshop was held successfully in The Ritz-Carlton in Beijing. 
 
Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, together with more than 10 incoming service providers, hotels/resorts and attractions from the country, was present. The workshop, which attracted almost 100 qualified Chinese tour operators, showcased the abundant tourism resources and advantageous geographical position of Sharjah. It contributed more than just enhancing the Chinese participants’ understanding of Sharjah as a destination in terms of culture, holidays, hospitality and transportation. Additionally, it created an effective communication platform and addressed to the China’s needs of developing in-depth tours and high quality routes.

representatives of the present incoming service providers. 
 
Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority – H.E. Khalid Al Midfa was interviewed by several Chinese media before the workshop. He made an introduction on the tourism policies towards China and the characteristic cultural tourism resources in Sharjah. “It has been a long time since Sharjah became one of the favorite destinations of Chinese travellers. There’s even a China Town in our country. We attach great importance to the Chinese market, and special services have been prepared in areas of airports, guided-tours and hospitality in our country for Chinese visitors. Our people are warm and friendly, we welcome Chinese travellers to Sharjah.” Mr. HE Khalid Al Midfa expressed.  
 
By closely cooperating with the stake-holders and continuously establishing new relations, H.E. Khalid Al Midfa is working with persistence to promote the development of The United Arab Emirates. He spares no efforts in opening up overseas market and works actively with partnership to develop every possible opportunity including the investments in new-model hotels and increasing Cruise business.

In the past four years, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority has been successfully managed and directed by H.E. Khalid Al Midfa. Under his leadership, the organization has concluded a new development strategy and set an ambitious goal which would bring 10 million visitors to the country by 2021. In 2014, Sharjah was named the Cultural Center of Islam. In 2015, it was selected as the Arab Tourism Capital. 
 
During the B2B session of the workshop, the present travel agencies in Beijing actively communicated with the incoming service providers and hotels/resorts from Sharjah. Many attendees from Chinese side stated that those communications could not only make them know more about the country, but also do a lot to the development of routes and the packaging of tourism products in the future. 
 
The incoming service providers from Sharjah were holding B2B talks with the Chinese travel agencies.Director of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority – Ms.Heather Harris was introducing the tourism resources to the audience.

Later on, Ms.Heather Harris, Director of Marketing and Communications of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, made a detailed introduction on the tourism resources, culture, holidays, transportation and accommodation of the country. With a diversity of festive events, Sharjah is an ideal destination for business visits, leisure travel and shopping.
 
 
Dr Adam WU, CEO of CBN Travel & MICE and World Travel Online was invited as a moderator in the workshop.
 
“The workshop has made a positive influence on the participants. We get to know more about the country. For the Chinese travellers who like to visit Dubai, Sharjah is a place cannot be missed. Prices of luxury commodities in the country are lower than those in Dubai by more than 15%. We have the confidence to bring Chinese visitors to Sharjah in the near future.” Mr. Wang Yongping, the vice-president of Chronic Disease Prevention and Treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine Promotion Association, stated after the workshop.
