Moscow eyes visa-free entry for Russian, Chinese tourists on Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island
Russia’s authorities prepare by mid-February to approve a concept for development of the Russian part of the Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island, on the Amur River, and a roadmap on its implementation.

The roadmap envisages a definite period lifting visa requirements for Russian and Chinese tourists visiting the island, which is divided between China and Russia, and establishing a permanent automobile border checkpoint through the state border there.

The regional authorities have been also requested to introduce their proposals on fulfilling projects on the island’s development aimed at making the region more attractive for tourists.

The cabinet has been tasked with the implementation of the policy following a December 16 session of a governmental commission on the social and economic development of the Far East, chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
