Quality FIT in Public Days of Hong Kong's Annual Travel Expo: Profile, Preferences, Outlook & Last Destination revealed in survey

Respectively 74% and 6% of the 73,200 public visitors of the last ITE&MICE, Hong Kong's international Travel Expo held each year in June, prefer traveling in FIT and tailored made groups, according to findings of a survey by the organizer that collected over 4000 replies, onsite and online included.

Furthermore, 71% of the survey’s respondents made two or more overnight leisure trips in the past twelve months, and 73% will spend more on travel in the coming year! Yes, these visitors love travel, are frequent travelers and willing to pay for quality travel experience!

When asked about their longest holidays in the past twelve months, 37% named North East Asia, 14% to South and Southeast Asia, 23% to mainland China and Macau, 15% went to Europe, Middle East, Africa and West Asia and 8% to the Americas and Oceania. The last two groups, who traveled to faraway destinations, add up to a significant 23%!

These quality travelers are highly educated, as 25% had post secondary education and 43% university or above. Consistent with common wisdom, the expo’s female visitors outnumber male by three to two.

In recent years, ITE&MICE has been highlighting travel themes, and respondents were asked to express their interest. Topping the list is 43% for Travel Photography, to be followed by 36% for Cruise, 31% for Sport / Wellness / Medical Tourism, 16% for Study Tours and 14% for Overseas Wedding & Honeymooning.

ITE&MICE 2013 drew 11,872 buyers and trade visitors with 20% from mainland China and 72% from Hong Kong, and from 46 countries and regions 680 exhibitors with 85% from abroad. Over 6000 and 2300 of the trade visitors came respectively from travel agents and MICE / Corporate Travel sectors.

ITE&MICE 2014, which co-locates the 28th International Travel Expo Hong Kong (ITE) and the 9the MICE Travel Expo (ITE MICE), will be held from June 12 to 15, 2014 at Halls 1A to 1E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. The Expo is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Macau Government Tourists Office and Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong etc.
