Charter airline plans six weekly China-Hawaii flights

A charter airline based in Beijing plans six weekly flights between Honolulu and two Chinese cities.

The charter service is allowed under a new aviation pact with china. For the first time, it allows Chinese group leisure travel to the U.S.

Each of the flights from Tianjin and Hangzhou, China, will also go on to Las Vegas.

Mega Global Airway says the first six months of flights are already sold out on the planes that will carry from 220 to 240 passengers.

Three weekly flights are to start between Tianjin and Honolulu on July 28. Three more will start up between Hangzhou and Honolulu in October.

It will be the first direct air service between Hawaii and China.

State tourism liaison Marsha Wienert says tourism officials are thrilled with plans for the new service.
