Global speakers presented the 2nd WTMS held in Beijing.
The 2nd World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS) was held in Beijing between Oct. 28th and 30th which was hosted by Beijing Tourism Administration(BTA). H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania is named the Honorary Global Chair of the 2nd WTMS. The 2nd WTMS brought together more than 300 travel and tourism industry leaders from around the globe.
China’s emergence as a global tourism partner is growing at an explosive rate for both inbound and outbound traffic and the country hosted a record 124 million travelers in 2006. The Summit networked and learnt from brightest how to develop strategies to enhance cooperation between the international business community and China--one of the world’s largest tourist markets. There are many leaders of the international tourism industry join in discussing and developing various platforms to facilitate business cooperation in tourism marketing among international partners and Chinese domestics. World Travel Online operated by China Business Network(CBN)was invited to attend the Summit as the most popular travel media dedicated to the outbound tourism and travel from China. Dr. Adam Wu, the operations director of CBN, was invited as the VIP guest to attend the Summit. Mr. Hon. Prof. Jumanne Maghembe, MP Minister for Natural Resources & Tourism of the United Republic of Tanzania addressed on the summit. The Summit focused on marketing strategies targeting Out-Bound Chinese travelers to international destinations. According to CNTA, the total number of outbound travellers from China reached 34 million in 2006 representing over 10% growth on 2005 which recorded 31 million. Based on such fast growth rate UNWTO predicted China to reach 100 million of outbound visitors well before 2020. The Summit discovered how to maximize your marketing efforts in view of their various demographics, as well as how to familiarize and prepare your staff to be aware of the needs and the cultural differences of the Chinese tourists in diverse international settings. Tanzania' s big delegation of more than 20 delegates attending the Summit and made active speech during the WTMS.
