On September 4, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Xiamen with Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray of
Mexico, who was accompanying President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico for the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries.
Wang Yi expressed that under the personal guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Enrique Peña Nieto, China-Mexico relations enjoy comprehensive and in-depth development. China is willing to make joint efforts with Mexico to forge bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership into a model of friendly cooperation among emerging market economies. Compared with respective national scale and potential, China-Mexico practical cooperation still has tremendous development space. Recently, both sides have initiated a batch of major cooperation projects in energy, telecom, vehicle manufacturing, industrial parks and other fields. China expects to maintain a sound momentum of cooperation with Mexico, align development strategies, and expand cooperation areas, so as to speed up the pace of common development.
Luis Videgaray noted that at present, Mexico-China relations are at its best in history, with inspiring achievements in bilateral exchanges and cooperation across all fields. Mexico commits to further enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, finance, tourism, and infrastructure construction, and will actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, continue to support China-Latin America overall cooperation, and join hands with China to cope with global challenges, so as to safeguard world peace, stability and development.
Both sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue and other topics.
