Li Jinzao meets Marleny Contreras

On June 16, CNTA chairman Li Jinzao received the visiting Venezuela delegation headed by tourism minister Marleny Contreras in Beijing. The two exchanged ideas on how to deepen bilateral tourism exchange and cooperation.

Li welcomed the guests and said: “China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership has been gathering momentum and tourism cooperation is vital part of our bilateral cooperation and enjoys broad prospects. In the new development period, I hope we would strengthen cooperation in tourism information exchange, in tourism exhibitions and conventions and in international organizations to bring our tourism cooperation to a new height.” Li also spoke positively of Venezuela’s efforts in ensuring tourist safety and creating a convenient travel experience, in particular those in favor of Chinese tourists. During the meeting, Li invited the guests to the 22nd General Assembly of the UNWTO to be staged in Chengdu in the upcoming September and China International Travel Mart in Kunming in October.

Minister Contreras thanked Li for the invitation and welcomed his suggestions. “We see the tourism industry as a key engine behind economic development, and value the Chinese market and the exchange and cooperation between our tourism authorities,” said she, “I visited China in May last year for the First World Conference on Tourism for Development and learnt more about the Chinese tourism industry. I look forward to strengthening communication and reaching more consensus with you to further our tourism exchange and cooperation.”

The two were accompanied by Venezuela’s ambassador Ivan Zerpa and senior officials from CNTA departments concerned.
