Yang Jiechi Meets with Vice President and Foreign Minister Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado of Panama
On June 13, 2017, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Vice President and Foreign Minister Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado of Panama at Zhongnanhai.
Yang Jiechi said that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama opens up a new chapter for bilateral relations. We believe that on the political basis of one-China policy, China and Panama will join efforts to promote bilateral practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen communication and cooperation in multilateral areas, so as to bring great benefits to the two peoples and the international community.
Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Panama and China is in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples. Panama is full of expectation to the development of bilateral relations. The Panamanian side will firmly adhere to one-China policy, strictly fulfill the relevant commitment and stands ready to make use of its unique advantages to promote bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, tourism and connectivity. Panama is willing to be the pivotal gateway for Latin America-China cooperation.
