AUSTRALIA'S tourism sector will be flying high on the back of a new air deal with China.
The Australian Federal Government expects massive growth opportunities to flow from the agreement.
Australian and Chinese airlines can now operate up to 26,500 seats a week between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth and Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou.
This is an increase of 4000 seats a week.
A further 7000 a week more will be phased in over the coming two years.
"This opens up opportunities for Australian airlines to better serve the China market," Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss said.
Almost 760,000 Chinese travellers spent close to $5 billion in Australia last financial year.
