The Third Joint Tourism Promotion Event of Croatia and Slovenia Achieved Huge Success in Shanghai
2012 Joint Tourism Promotion Event of Croatia and Slovenia was successfully held in Shanghai on 23rd April. With the theme of “Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia”, the two countries come to China for the third time to stride new step developing in the Chinese tourism market.
2012 Joint Tourism Promotion Event of Croatia and Slovenia was successfully held in Shanghai on 23rd April. With the theme of “Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia”, the two countries come to China for the third time to stride new step developing in the Chinese tourism market. Co-exhibited with more than 10 local incoming providers, the two tourist boards introduced the wonderful tourism resources and products, which attracted over 130 travel trade professionals in Shanghai. During the workshop at the event, guests and hosts met and explored the best way to achieve cooperation.

This tourism event received the support of Croatian Embassy and Slovenian Embassy. Consul General of Slovenia in Shanghai Mr. Drago Napotnik and the Consul of Croatia Mr. Branko Gacak gave warm speeches on the event, “with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationships between the Republic of Slovenia & Croatia and the People’s Republic of China, we believe that this special occasion will provide us with a new opportunity to promote the rapid development of bilateral tourism in China.”

With located in the heart of Europe and the convenience of the Schengen visa policy, Slovenia is the ideal base for Chinese tourists to travel around Europe. According to the Head of Sales Promotion from Slovenia Tourism Board -- Ms. Karmen Novarlič said, “In 2011, the number of Chinese tourists visited Slovenia, especially business travelers, has increased by 34.2%. For Chinese tourists, Slovenia is still a fresh and attractive destination. Chinese tourists usually visited Ljubljana, Lake Bled, the world's largest longest karst cave - Postojna caves, etc. This year the most worthy place to visit was the 2012European Capital of Culture - Maribor. More visitors want to enjoy environmental friendly holidays, appreciate the natural beauty of the unspoiled. Slovenia has this kind of rich tourism resources and giving the tourists a unforgettable experience.”

According to the official data, the number of Chinese tourists travelled to Croatia has sharply increased about 70.2% in 2011. In order to attract more Chinese tour operators, the Croatian government decided to stick to visa-free policy this year. It shows that Croatia is confident of Chinese tourism market. Ms. Renata Dezeljin and Ms. Karla Brnobic from Croatia National Tourist Board expressed that Croatia embodies rich history and culture sites including seven sites under UNESCO protection and 12 treasures on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. Chinese tourists could enjoy Mediterranean beautiful views, profound historical culture and quality services. Dubrovnik Old Town, the Lake District National Park and other World Heritage are very popular to the Chinese visitors. And celebrities also love Croatia, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise are all very desirable to Croatia vacation. These words absolutely increased the attractiveness to the attended Chinese tour operators.

Co-organizing this event for three consecutive years, the World Travel Online and China Business Network (CBN) gave the joint promotion strong support. Chief Operating Officer of CBN -- Dr. Adam Wu gave a training lecture on site, which provided in-depth understanding of China's outbound tourism market and preferences of Chinese outbound tourists. He also gave a guide how to effectively enter and occupy the Chinese market. The two countries’ promotion in the Chinese market fast attracted a great growing number of Chinese tourists; Dr. Wu said CBN and its World Travel Online will be more confident to recommend the two countries to the Chinese tourist industry and tourists. 

The B2B workshop was very actively taking place following tourism presentation. Many Chinese tour operators seized the opportunity to learn more about the two countries’ tourism, so that to find and develop good partnerships with the exhibitors.

Miss Qin Jia from Turkish Airlines said: "Turkish Airlines have a flight every day from Beijing and Shanghai, transit through Istanbul, to the Croatian capital of Zagreb." And in fact, most European routes straight Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split.
