According to 2011 Global Tourism Competitiveness Report released by the World Economic Forum, China's travel and tourism industry competitiveness ranking has risen to 39th worldwide: up from 62th four years ago.
The improvement is attributed to infrastructure construction and strong investment in tourism. The report says that the number of Chinese outbound tourists ranked third in the world and have become an important driving force in the development of global tourism.
The report covers 139 countries and regions around the world.
