Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam late on Saturday for a two-day visit. His visit aims to cement economic and friendship ties started between the two countries over four decades ago. He held talks with Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete on boosting the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Located in the western part of Dar es Salaam, construction of the stadium started in 2005. It was built by a Chinese contractor with financing from the governments of both Tanzania and China at a cost of more than 56 million US dollars. With 60-thousand seats, the ultra-modern stadium is the biggest in Tanzania. President Jakaya Kikwete extended Tanzania's appreciation for China's assistance.
