Since Ireland formally became an outbound destination country of China in September 2004, the number of Chinese citizens visiting Ireland reached an average growth rate of 30% per year.
In 2007, Ireland become one of largest new destinations for the Chinese outbound tour market. The National Tourism Administration of Ireland said that Chinese tourists' requirements have been a motive for adjusting their marketing policy and launching new itineraries and that much more importance will be attached to the Chinese outbound tour market.
A promotion which Ireland held recently in Beijing helped enhance understanding as well as cooperation between the two countries.
