Jero Wacik, Indonesian State Minister for Culture and Tourism, has told the media in Shanghai that his country plans to attract 300,000 tourists from China in 2007.
Wacik says that China is a big potential market for Indonesia and in 2005 Indonesia received 159,000 tourists from China. Their goal for this year is 250,000, which will be hard to reach because of the natural disaster on the Java Island. However, they have set their goal of receiving 300,000 Chinese tourists in 2007.
In order to offer more convenience to Chinese tourists, the Indonesian Government has launched a new policy to make it easier for Chinese tourists to get a visa after their arrival in Indonesia, and they will also add more nonstop flights from Indonesia to the main cities in China.
