Malaysia Wants More Chinese Tourists
Malaysia Wants More Chinese Tourists

Lim Siang Chai, Deputy Minister of Malaysia's Tourism Department, says the country will increase the number of Chinese officers at their department from the current 9 to 60 in order to help attract more Chinese tourists to visit the country.

According to Lim, there are totally 600 officers at the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, but only 9 of them are Chinese and this has seriously influenced their work to attract more tourists from China.

Lim pointed out that China and India, the two countries with the largest populations in the world, have been growing and they have become a main target for countries across the world to seek for more tourists. Lim said that China and India will be the largest outbound tourist countries in the next 10-20 years, so they need to recruit more officers with Chinese or Indian backgrounds to facilitate their work of attracting more tourists from these two countries.
