Zambian President Lupando Mwape said in Shanghai Sunday that fruitful results have been made in trade and economic cooperation between Zambia and China.
Mwape made the remarks at a meeting with Shanghai Vice Mayor Tang Dengjie Sunday evening.
Mwape said the friendship between the two countries has stood the test of time.
"The Tanzania-Zambia railway, built in the 1960s with the assistance of China, is a symbol of friendship between two countries." he said.
He noted vigorous development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, especially in agriculture, textile, mining and tourism, saying that both countries should enhance mutual understanding and explore new areas of cooperation.
Zambia is looking forward to support from China in infrastructure construction, said Mwape.
Tang Dengjie briefed the guest on the social and economic development in Shanghai over the past few years.
At the invitation of Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong, Mwape kicked off an official visit to the country on December 15. He is to leave Shanghai for Beijing on Monday.
