EMBRATUR promotes Brazil as a destination at ITB China 2018
The Brazilian Institute of Tourism (EMBRATUR) plans to take part in this year’s edition of ITB China, one of the main tourism trade fairs in Asia, which takes place from 16 to 18 May in Shanghai, taking advantage of the trip to promote Brazil as a destination in four cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong – according to official information.

 Noting the participation in this fair, the Institute launched “China Market,” which contains information specific to the Chinese tourism sector, a product that was developed to support and facilitate market action in order to increase understanding of the Chinese market by operators.
 
China rose four places on the list of the main sources of tourists for Brazil from 2016 to 2017, from 21st to 17th place, with most of the Chinese visiting Brazil doing so for business (69%), with those travelling for leisure accounting for 23% of the total.
 
In addition to the actions presented, five EMBRATUR representatives have been invited by the Chinese Embassy in Brazil to attend the Seminar on Tourism for Portuguese-Speaking Countries, an event held from 10 to 30 May in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province, with field trips to Shanghai, Suzhou, and Nanjing, among other cities.
 
Meanwhile, the Iguassu Convention & Visitors Bureau on Monday began a visit to China organised jointly by Brazil and Argentina, with the aim of promoting the tourist potential of the Iguassu Falls and other attractions in the region of the triple border (Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay).
 
Iguassu CVB executive director Basileu Tavares highlighted the importance of the event for the growth of international tourism in Iguassu, mainly due to the potential of the Chinese issuing market and the size and relevance of an event such as ITB China.
