Attended by thousands of exhibitors, buyers and visitors, BITE2017 was kick-started on June 16, which offers a valuable platform for the cooperation between exhibitors and buyers.
On June 16 to 18,
Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) was held for the 14th time, attracting nearly a thousand of exhibitors from over 80 countries and regions, as well as 28 local province. In addition, it was also attended by more than 40,000 buyers and about 150,000 public visitors.
With a gross exhibiting area of 22,000 square meters, this 3-day tourism feast holds a series of workshop, seminar, and special promotion activities with a total number of over 3,600. Between exhibitors and Buyers, business transactions reached about 6.3 billion yuan, another increase of 6.8% on 2016. As for on-site sales, travel agencies sold tourism products valued at 110 million to 100,000 visitors, which also witness a 18% increase in its revenue.
Many destinations and travel companies see a valuable opportunity in Expo, and they eye bigger share of Chinese travel market, looking for a good platform to promote their tourism.

The exhibitors from central Europe draws attention from many buyers this year since its increasing tourism communication with China, and they also eager to take this opportunity to make a favorable promotion in China. For example,
Hotel Paris Prague, a luxury hotel awarded by TripAdvisor as “Travelers’ Choice 2017”, introduces its special offers and products in the expo, celebrating its 112 anniversary.

Apart from central Europe, South America is another special highlight in the expo as many counties relax visa restrictions on Chinese tourists. That is to say, Chinese tourists enjoy a more convenient visa policies to these South American counties: visa-free to Ecuador, 10-year multiple-entry visa and visa-free with conditions to Argentina, visa-free with conditions to Chile and Uruguay, visa-on-arrival to Guyana and Surinam, etc. South America is trying its best to woo Chinese tourists, and these policies really works for Chinese travel industry.

2016 was another strong year for outbound tourism from China with outbound tourism expenditures of US$ 261 billion, an increase by 12% (in local currency) over the previous year. The number of outbound travellers rose 6% to 135 million in 2016. According to UNWTO, this growth consolidates China’s position as number one source market in the world since 2012, following a trend of double-digit growth in tourism expenditure every year since 2004.
