COTTM: Global destinations and companies eyes bigger share of Chinese travel market
World Travel Online brought many resources to COTTM 2017 in Beijing.
The 13th China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM) was held in Beijing from 29-31, March. This leading outbound travel exhibition has attracted about 400 enterprises from 70 countries and regions; over 4,500 travelers and buyers came to the fair and looked for cooperation opportunities. As its long-term media partner and inviter for hosted buyers, World Travel Online was also invited to participate in this fair.

Apart from World Travel Online, CBN Travel & MICE, another affiliate of China Business Network (CBN) attended this event as well. Providing high quality destination management services in UK (and Europe), CBN Travel & MICE became a highlight for the industry visitors due to the increasing travel enthusiasm caused by the ease-up on travel visa rules, devaluation of pound, and the growth of routes between China and UK. In addition, the award “World’s Best Destination” to London was also one of the main reasons that made CBN Travel & MICE extremely popular on the fair.

One of the clients of World Travel Online, El Corte Ingles was shown in luxury section in COTTM this year, which brought the communication opportunity for operators who were focusing on high-end tailor-made service. Apart from this, World Travel Online also recommended many wonderful tourism resources (including the outbound destinations and famous attractions) around the world, such as Experiencias Xcaret, GG-Tours - Palestine, HME Crafted Holidays, LATAM AirlinesMeeting Point International, Metropolitan Touring Peru, Milano Malpensa Airport, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur Prambanan Ratu Boko, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Slovenian Tourist Board, The Shops at The Bravern, Travel Link, Victoria and Albert Museum, etc.
 
Project Director of Tarsus Group Plc, the sponsor of COTTM 2017, Mr. Matt Thompson said that China was the biggest outbound travel market in the world, and many destinations eyed bigger share of it. His word was proven by the statistics that 2016 saw another big increase of 12% on 2015 and Visa expects the overseas spending of Chinese will reach to USD 2.552 billion.
