New Format of WTF took place in Shanghai
The ninth World Travel Fair (WTF2012) was successfully held in Shanghai from May 10th to May 13th.
With a track record stretching back 8 years, World Travel Fair, as one of the most influential travel events in the Chinese tourism industry in the Yangtze River Delta Region, attracted about 550 exhibitors from 50 countries all over the world. The exhibiting area spanned to 13 thousands square meters, which increased about 30% than last year.

In 2012, in order to meet the different requests of the exhibitors and visitors, the organizers initiated two sub-brands orienting B2B and B2C market, i.e., "World Travel Fair Professional" & "World Tourism Carnival". Thereinto, the B2B area received 7250 visitors and held 756 match-making negotiations between the exhibitors and buyers; the B2C area received 35,000 visitors and achieved trades valued 8.775 million RMB, which exceeded the previous years greatly.
 
Recognising the wide reaching of the travel trade and its focus of outbound travel from China,  CBN Travel & MICE and World Travel Online(WTO) were once again invited to attend the WTF as media supporter and got great attraction from the trade visitors and co-exhibitors.

In recognising the fast developing travel and tourism market the World Travel Market (WTM) organised the first ever WTM Vision Conference in Shanghai  prior to the WTF in the 5 star JC Mandarin Hotel adjacent to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre where WTF took place afterwards.

According to the report released during the conference by Euromonitor International China, Chinese tourists will spend 36 billion on shopping overseas by the year 2016, which is twice the amount of the year 2011. Moreover, Chinese tourists will spend on more money on accommodation, short journey, sightseeing on destinations. It has been widely agreed that the next five years will witness further fast development of Chinese  travel and tourism market both inbound and outbound with outbound visitors reaching 100 million by 2015.
