The eighth COTTM was held in Beijing from April 18 to 20. Over 275 exhibitors from 60 countries attended to showcase their destinations, travel products and services to a high number of Chinese tour operators. Served as the partner of COTTM, China Business Network (CBN) and World Travel Online (WTO) had successfully invited over 300 Hosted Buyers from all around China to attend the COTTM.

It was the first time for
Slovenia Tourist Board and
Croatian National Tourist Board to display on the joint stand on the COTTM. The marketing manger of Slovenia Tourist Board Ms. Karmen Novarlič said: "Slovenia is a magnificent destination for Chinese tourists. In recent year, the overnight stays from Chinese tourists, especially business travelers, have increased by 30%-50%." Further more, the number of Chinese tourists to Croatia has surged 70% in 2011. Therefore, these two countries have much more focused on Chinese market this year.

According to China Tourism Academy (CTA) statistics, over 70 million Chinese tourists traveled overseas in 2011, up 22%; and the number is expected to soar to about 78 million by 2012, reaching the new record of overseas travel expenditure of 80 billion. By the end of this year, China is expected to become the world's largest outbound tourism market.
