Review on BITE 2009

Beijing International Tourism Expo 2009 (BITE 2009) was successfully held in Beijing from June 18-20. Affected by the financial crisis, world famous travel agencies changed their strategy and were focus on China for new chances as the decreased amounts of outbound travel in Europe and North America. Some new travelling routes and products are getting more popular and get good reflection by this event.

 

 

Ms. Zhang Juguang, the director of Beijing Tourism Administration, was delivering a welcome speech on the opening ceremony.


BITE 2009 witnessed 82 countries and regions (among which 28 country pavilions), 25 Chinese provinces and cities exhibiting in a space of 23,700sqm. The Expo has attracted 267 international and 326 Chinese exhibitors. The expo also welcomed a total 200 hosted buyers of which 100 were from China and another 100 from overseas. BITE 2009’s visitor ship also witnesses more than 40,000 trade visitors and 80,000 public visitors for the 3 days.

As a long-term partner with BITE, China Business Network (CBN) and World Travel Online (WTO) were invited to attend this exhibition again, and WTO offered report coverage for this event as the official media partner.

CBN gave a great support to many exhibiting clients during the BITE and Chinese outbound industry which including:Baltic Balkan Travel Group (BBTG); Grand Hotel Lienz; Destination Management Chile S.A.; Safari Direct Ltd; Voortrekker Monument Heritage; Jamaica Tourist Board; Ethiopia Ministry of Culture and Tourism; Trinidad & Tobago Sightseeing Tours; USA-Leisure West Tours and Cruises; Saitas Baltic; Big Bus Tours; Central Hall Westminster; Mantis Collection; Victoria and Albert Museum; Tanzania National Parks; Euro USA and so on. CBN also designed all their Chinese brochures and materials for the clients which can help them to promote their travel resources effectively.

   

Kelly Zhang, the PR and Marketing Officer of CBN arranged the meeting for Mr. Gundars Pozkalns of Baltic Balkan Travel Group with China outbound travel agencies.

World Travel Online staffer did the promotion to the interested visitor.


As another highlight of BITE2009, supported by CBN, Baltic Balkan Travel Group successfully held the reception on the evening of June 19th during the BITE. CBN invited more than 50 Top outbound tour operators as well as media to attend the event. Mr. Zhang Zhiyun, the director of Europe & Americas Division of Marketing & Communication Department of China National Tourism Administration also attended the reception who is invited by CBN. During the reception, Mr. Gundars Rozkalns, Managing Director of Baltic Balkan Travel Group introduced the rich tourism resources in Baltic and Balkan countries and invited interested Chinese tour operators to join the Fam Trip in August to Baltic and Balkan.

BITE is attracting more and more countries as well as visitors. First-time country representations participated in BITE2009 included Japan, Zambia, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Bhutan, Cyprus.
