Review on World Travel Fair 2009

Known as the outbound travel industry's leading sourcing fair in China, the 6th World Travel Fair 2009 (WTF 2009), co-organized by Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission (SMTAC) and VNU Exhibitions Asia, was held successfully at Shanghai New International Expo Center during April 9-April 11, 2009.

The organizer was delivering a welcome speech on the opening ceremony.

As the long-term partner with WTF, China Business Network with CBN Travel Service and World Travel Online were invited again to participate in the whole event. Being the best known travel media focusing on outbound travel from China, World Travel Online reported the events to the travel fair in China.

As one of the top Travel Services in U.K., CBN Travel Service received many trade visitors who got great interests to cooperate with CBN Travel Service in near future. During WTF09, China Business Network and World Travel Online did good promotions for the clients such as: Jamaica Tourist Board, Ethiopia Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Authentic Caribbean Holidays Ltd., Leisure West Tours & Cruises, EuroUSA Travel, Aberdare Safari Hotels, Central Hall Westminster,etc. The elegant combined exhibiting area have attracted many trade visitors and hosted buyers.


Delicate and well-prepared stand of CBN was welcoming visitors from all around the world.

Marketing Director Ms. Linda Ruan passionately introduced tourist products to visitors.

Malaysia Tourism Board once again attended this event with its professional services and new unique products, promoting its fascinating tropical beaches, islands, the perfect hotel supporting facilities and warm multi-folk culture to trade visitors and hosted buyers. The graceful fusion dance actually brought visitors an amazing vision.

Charming stand of Malaysia Tourism Board attracted lots of visitors to ask for brochures and became one of the focuses of the whole Fair.

Deserved to be mentioned, “2009 WTF Awards” was held on 8 April, 2009. As one of the most important events at WTF, it attracted the interests of the tourist organizations and medias of the world and was integrated with all kinds of synthesis assessment,such as profession, fair, authority, objectivity and public opinions.
Malaysia——“the Best Honeymoon Tour Destination”;
Greece——“The most Popular European Tour Destination”;
Switzerland and Kenya——“The Best Leisure Tour Destination”.


Malaysia voted the Best Honeymoon Tour Destination on WTF 2009.

Malaysia recieved the award and took photos for souvenir.

WTF09 welcomed 450 exhibitors from 50 countries including Croatia, Thailand and Italy etc. come to Shanghai to exhibit in WTF 2009. 80% of the exhibitors were from overseas. The 3-day event attracted over 6000 trade visitors and 15000 publics. All the visitors would “experience the world” by walking through the exhibition venue which occupied 10000 Square meters. After five editions, WTF has grown to be a mature business-to-business outbound travel platform for many tourism boards and travel agencies from all over the world.


The increase rate of American exhibitors was 75%.

Costa Cruise Lines from Italy made the travel Fair more diverse.
