Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan
 
On July 9, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Osama Faisal of Sudan who was in China for the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF).
 
Wang Yi expressed that China and Sudan enjoy traditional friendship, and have always understood and supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns. China and Sudan have achieved abundant cooperation outcomes, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. Under the new situation, China is willing to, together with the Sudanese side, tap into cooperation potential, make innovation in cooperation patterns, and break new ground for bilateral cooperation. China has always supported the African people in solving the African issues in African ways, and stands ready to continue to make efforts in promoting the success of the peace process of South Sudan. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with various countries including Sudan to jointly well hold the upcoming 8th CASCF Ministerial Meeting and make good preparations for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held this September, in a bid to elevate China-Arab and China-Africa cooperation to new stages.
 
Osama Faisal noted that Sudan and China enjoy solid friendship. Sudan thanks China for providing long-term support and assistance for Sudan in safeguarding national stability, promoting national unity and boosting economic development, and stands ready to continue to firmly support China's stance on safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Sudanese side highly appreciates China's contributions to solving hotspot issues in Africa, and hopes that China could continue to play a constructive role in resolving the South Sudan issue and the revitalization of South Sudan in the future. The Sudanese side attaches importance to the CASCF and the FOCAC, and stands ready to deepen cooperation with China through these two mechanisms.
