On September 19, CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang received the visiting Uruguayan delegation headed by Deputy Tourism Minister Benjamin Liberoff in Beijing. The two exchanged ideas on how to deepen bilateral tourism exchange and cooperation.
Du said the Chinese government highly valued tourism exchange and cooperation with Uruguay. “Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations. We will work actively to include tourism into the celebration agenda. As we experience rapid growth in outbound travel, we are willing to share this historic opportunity with you. We hope you can customize multi-destination tourism products and routes for Chinese tourists and create more conveniences for them, such as putting up more signs in Chinese, training more Chinese-speaking tour guides, opening Chinese-speaking TV channels in hotels and popularizing credit card payments, etc.”
Mr. Liberoff spoke highly of the success of the 22nd UNWTO General Assembly held in Chengdu and promised to actively respond to the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen tourism cooperation with China under it. “We will step up marketing efforts in China, simply the visa policy and support cooperation between Chinese and Uruguayan tourism companies as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.”
The two were accompanied by Uruguayan ambassador Fernando Lugris and senior officials from CNTA Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison.
