China is expected to see growth in both the domestic and overseas tourism during the forthcoming National Day holiday period, according to a recent forecast.
The holiday season will span eight days, from October 1 to 8, this year, as Mid-Autumn Day falls on October 4.
The 2017 National Day Golden Week Travel Trends report, released by Ctrip, one of China's leading online travel agencies, projected that 650 million people will travel to destinations within the country, while more than six million will go abroad. Both of these projected figures are higher than last year's figures, according to China News Service.
In 2016, China received 593 million visitors during the seven-day holiday, while the number of people who made their way overseas was close to six million.
Thailand, Japan and
the US will be the top three outbound choices for Chinese tourists, with last year's number one South Korea dropping out of the top ten completely, Ctrip noted.
