Malaysian Government Considers Visa Exemption for Chinese Tourists
The Malaysian government is currently studying the possibility to abolish tourist visa exemption for Chinese tourists in order to reposition itself in the market, since Thailand and Indonesia have done so.

The proposal on this matter was submitted to the Council of Ministers on May 15 and a decision is expected soon on the matter, said Nazri Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture.

He added that in the first quarter of this year 350,000 tourists from the neighboring country came to Malaysia, while about two million visited Thailand.

In 2014, 1.4 million Chinese visited the Southeast Asian nation, lower than the figure registered in 2013, when two million arrived.
