China and Peru should expand the market on trade and culture and improve tourism.
On November 11, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao met with his Peruvian counterpart Ollanta Humala Tasso in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2010, bilateral trade rose to nearly 10 billion U.S. dollars, as China became the second largest trading partner of Peru and its largest export destination.
Except polictical issues and economic issues, Chinese President Hu Jintao expressed that China and Peru should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in cultural fields.
Humala fully agreed with Hu's views on strengthening bilateral relations and said the Peruvian people cherish friendly sentiments toward the Chinese people. Peru is willing to strengthen its political contact with China and advance win-win cooperation in the areas of trade, tourism, economy, energy, mining, infrastructure construction, environmental protection and technology, he said, welcoming Chinese companies to invest in his country. Humala also called for closer cultural exchanges between the two sides and increased consultation and coordination in the multilateral arena. He reiterated that Peru firmly adheres to the one-China policy.
