On May 26 the grand opening of the circular hall meeting of the 10th World Travel & Tourism Conference themed as “Tourism Entering a New Field as the World’s Biggest Industry” took place in Beijing International Conference Center. The subject of the conference was “analyze the uncertainty of the formation and structure of economic recovery, the increase of government regulations and interventions as well as the electronic economy of green economy as an emerging industry”. CNTA Chairman Shao Qiwei made a keynote speech titled Tourism Industry of China Pushing World Economy to a New Stage. Vice Mayor of Beijing Ding Xiangyang delivered a speech titled Build Tourism into the World’s Biggest Industry.

President of World Travel & Tourism Council Jean-Claude Baumgarten, Chairman of Beijing Tourism Administration Zhang Huiguang, President of Beijing Tourism Group Liu Yi and partner of RRE Ventures James Robinson attended the meeting and made speeches. A special address was given by Bill Marriot, President and CEO of Marriot International with the title of Tourism Industry—A Global Industry.

There were reportedly eight sessions with independent subjects in sequence during the WTTC conference. Speakers from China and abroad made keynote speeches or discussion speeches based on relevant subjects. Leaders from Air China, China International Travel Service Head Office and Beijing Capital International Airport Co. Ltd. spoke as the sponsors or supporters. Representatives from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Hong Kong Shun Tak Holdings Limited, Travelport Group, CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, State Environmental Protection Administration, China Tourism Academy, and Beijing International Studies University made speeches in the meetings.
