It's the first time China has hosted the summit, which is the world's highest-level gathering of travel and tourism industry leaders, chief executives and senior government officials, all working together to unlock the industry's significant potential for sustainable development and economic growth across the globe.
More than 1,100 domestic and overseas delegates will attend the summit which runs through Thursday.
During the three-day event, participants will engage in workshops covering topics such as reform and innovation on future tourist destinations, and China's transformation and fast development.
The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) selects a different city to host the annual event each year.
Next year's summit will be held in Las Vegas, a city located in the U.S.
