CITM 2008 Interview with the Marketing Director of Brazil Tourism Board in Asia

CITM---China International Travel Mart (CITM), the largest travel exhibition in Asia has been successfully held at Shanghai New International Exhibition Center from 20th Nov to 23rd Nov 2008. CITM aimed at both travel trade and consumers, provided exhibitors the opportunity of multiple business talks and negotiations with international buyers, travel agents in China as well as promoting their destinations and travel products and services to large number of Chinese consumers too. 

For the first time unprecedented number of foreign destinations and exhibitors took part in CITM 2008 with dedicated support from China Business Network and the World Travel Online. Mr. Bronco, the representative of Brazil Tourism Board(BTB), gave an interview promoting Brazil in the Chinese market.

Brazil occupies nearly 50% of the South America Continent. Its geography and history are distinctively different from the rest of the Latin American world, which have combined to offer a rich culture full of diversity and contradiction! Welcome to enjoy this fantastic country.

WTO: Brazil is such a big country in South America.  A lot of Chinese are interested in this country. Would you please introduce some tourist attractions in Brazil?

BTB: It’s my pleasure. Thank you so much for having me here. And I’d like to start from the Iguassu Falls which is one of the most popular destinations for the Chinese people. The second most popular destination for the Chinese people is the Amazon rain forest which is the largest tropical rainforest in the world. The third one is some cities with some real additional and also Sao Paulo is very popular for its business. Those ones are very popular for Chinese people.

WTO: How about the culture and tourism exchange state between Brazil and China so far? 

BTB: As you see, the relationship of China and Brazil is growing very rapidly. Brazil is a member of the BRIC which is made up of Brazil, Russia, China, and India. Many TV Medias focus on these 4 countries. More and more travelers and business men travel between Brazil and China to exchange their experiences and culture as well as explore some business opportunities.

WTO: How many Chinese people came to Brazil in recent years? And what’s the purpose of those Chinese visitors, for pure leisure traveling or business trip?

BTB: 80% of the travelers are for business and the activities related to business. Last year we had roughly 26,000 Chinese visitors coming to
